My secret to instantly dry and harden nails at home in only 10 minutes!

The Problem

So you're sitting at home on a Friday night, bored out of your mind and you notice that your nail polish has been chipping off. You decide to start new and re-paint your nails because chipped nails just aren't cute.

When you finish painting them, after that second top coat, you suddenly get a call from your friend and they ask you if you want to go out. No one wants to sit home on a Friday night so of corse you say yes!

But what about your nails? You don't have that spray that the salons have to instantly dry your nails and you can't do anything until they harden or else you'll get nail polish everywhere and smear it!

The Solution

That's right! My little secret tip is something that can be found right in your own kitchen! And the best part is that it only takes less than 10 minutes to completely harden your nails! No more smeared nails after all that hard work to get them perfect!

Step 1

Right after you finish that top coat, wait about a minute or two for it to semi-dry. You can easily speed this process up by blowing gently on them or put them in front of a fan. You can also get your handy dandy blow dryer out and set it on low and hold the cold button down and hold it a little bit away from your nails so it doesn't indent them from the air pressure.

Step 2

Grab some Pam, I recommend the original Pam as shown in the picture above. Haven't tried the one with butter or any others, but this one will defiantly do!

Oh, and while you're in your kitchen, go ahead and get a bowl, possibly one thats big enough to fit all your nails in at once so you don't have to do each hand separate. Fill it with water and add a few ice cubes to it. If you don't have ice, take the bowl of water and set it in the freezer or even the fridge. If you do this, I recommend doing it before you paint your nails so the water is really cold when you're done painting.

Once your nails have semi-dried, hold the Pam about 4-5inches from each nail. It's easier to do each nail separate than just spraying it all over. You don't want an oily mess!

Spray each nail for only a second! You don't want the pressure of the compressed air to indent the polish!

This is just like using those sprays they have at nail salons!

Step 3

You should have that bowl of water ready, or go ahead and take it out of the fridge/freezer. I usually have a lot of ice in my bowl before I do my nails that way when I'm ready for this step, most of the ice has already melted and the water is super cold!

Go ahead and stick your fingers in the water just enough so your nails are completely submerged. Try and keep them in the water for 3 minutes at first. It's going to be cold.. Really really cold! If its not, add more ice and or stick it back in your freezer.

Try and not give in and take your fingers out of the water!! The whole point of this is to freeze the nail polish and therefore harden it instantly. Beauty is pain! And if there's no pain, there's no gain! So hang in there!

If after 3 minutes they still are soft, you can leave them in longer. You really want that water freezing for better results!

How to Make Sure it's Hard

You can either simply touch the nail polish, or you can take a hand towel and gently push it against you nail. If it leaves small little patterns from the towel, you should be able to gently rub the nail and smooth it out because the oil from the Pam helps you smooth out without smearing it! This is why i use both of these techniques together! It helps you know if you need more time in the water.

You can gently wipe the oil off of your fingers, try not to touch your nail polish unless you're completely positive they're harden as I said above.

Step 4 (optional)

If you have more time, you can take your hair dryer or fan and use that again on your nails. This is totally optional! Usually my nails are hard by now and I'm able to use my hands without worrying about my nails being ruined.

You still have to be careful, but most of the time the nails harden by now.

The Results

You now have nails that are completely harden! Now it's time to get ready and not worry about smudging your nails! Time to go out and have nails that look professionally done without spending a fortune at the salon!
